BACK TO BROGUES

Stepping out of the eighties and back into twenty-first century the no longer ‘just a gentleman’s shoe’ but a pair of classy flats are lacing their way onto the feet of todays teen and adult fashion icons. The likes of Agyness Deyn, Alexa Chung and the Geldof sisters are all completing their tom-boyish looks with brogue shoes. However there seems to be a knack that they all have in order to make the shoes look pretty and girly rather than masculine. Teamed with floral prints, or a smock dress causes these ‘meant for males’ shoes to look surprisingly feminine.

Whether high heeled or flat, inspired by the preppy Gossip Girl classroom or the back streets of Shoreditch, sported by Wintour or Chung, this Oxford lace up is this Summer’s replacement for the Winehouse ballet shoe trend. Brouges are this season’s ‘it’ pair of shoes and taking into consideration their heavy leather hard wearing surface this shoe is going to stick around for as long as possible...until it gets the boot!

SAIL AWAY WITH OUR NAUTICAL TREND

Our Red Nautical Inspired Straw Handbag with Woven Rope Style Handles is just what you need to inject a little fun into your wardrobe.  At a reasonable £17.99 and with quirky red velvet anchors, a woven straw design and beaded rope handles, it squeals summer holiday. Kate Moss is a big fan of the nautical trend, as is Cheryl Cole who has a penchant for stripy jumpers. Pretty much every summer, nautical is a trend: the stripes, brass buttons and navy fitted blazers. This season Karl Lagerfeld presented Chanel’s 2010 resort collection ‘Coco on the Lido’ which blew previous nautical collections out the water. Classic sailor-suits, Breton stripes, gold fastenings, little hats, all worked their magic to channel one of Coco’s original visions.

If you want to get on the nautical bandwagon, why not also pick up our super cute Nautical Style Flat Pumps with Woven Detailing for a wonderful £14.99.

Understated yet chic; nautical is a must-have trend to rock this season!

VOGUE MAGAZINEs GUIDE ON DIVINE POLKA DOTS

What can be casual and glamorous at the same time? Honestly - not many things. But thank goodness the polka dot print is one of them.

Interestingly, this season is all about playful prints, that’s why the polka dot has also slightly transformed itself into something elegant, fun, fab and doubtlessly summery.

Style.com made up a list of the ultimate spotty must haves. These are some of the divine dots Vogue US lusts for.

Take for example the Tabitha Simmons sandals - perfect for any sunny occasion. Colourful, polka-dotted and sophisticated, these beauties can be worn as a colour-clash to your party outfit or casually with denim. Either way, make sure you look as retro and energetic as Christina Aguilera in her video ‘Candyman’.

Want some innovative polka dots? Take inspiration from Meredith Wendell and wear a funky clutch handbag - the Wendell one is bound to keep heads turning with an eye-grabbing turquoise dot on python skin design.

Let’s admit it, clutch bags are not everybody’s thing, especially when a girl has too many necessities she needs to carry around all the time. Take notes from Loewe and the brand’s version of the modern polka dot. Beautifully embellished with studs - this fashionable handbag is a simply a fashionista’s dream!

Remember, this season polka dots are versatile, fun and glamorous! You can get away with any spotty outfit you choose, just make sure you don’t take advice from Ugly Betty and clash it with too many prints.

Want an instant update to nail the look? How about our White Polka Dot Silk Effect Crinkle Scarf £4.99, or our Navy and White Polka Dot Bow Front Pumps, £14.99.

SPOT ON - THE POLKA DOT TREND

Polka dots.... when first mentioned conjures an image of 50’s and 60’s pin up pictures, perfectly permed hair girls sporting polka dot itsy-bitsy bikinis and high-waisted hot pants. Or perhaps Spanish flamenco dancers, or even a little Minnie Mouse! These spots (no matter how big or small) were a real hit during the mid to late 19th century. Around the same time when polka music and the polka dance was invented (what they were initially named after). Dots and the dance became all the rage and it seems like history is once again repeating itself. We’ve previously seen Henry Holland’s bold collection of Beverly Hills inspired polka dot dresses and jeans in his Spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection. Now the craze is continuing a year later due to the resistance of well dressed celebrities refusing to give up their spots. Names such as Pixie and Peaches Geldof, Emma Wasson and actress Emma Roberts are all spot on with their style, presenting their best polka outfits on a night out.

Thanks to  designers such as Tabitha Simmons, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor this retro print is once again fresh, popping up on playsuits, shorts, ballet pumps and scarves even. Anywhere you look at the moment High street stores are creating affordable copies from the catwalk.

It seems as if we’re going to cling onto this cute craze for as long as possible!

GLADIATOR SANDALS - ARE YOU READY?

Its finally that time of year again, gone are the days of UGG snow boots and cowboy boots, summer is here! Well the weather is still a little unpredictable at the moment but it’s definitely time to rummage through your summer wardrobe and dust of your fashionable gladiator shoes.

I can’t quite recall when they came into fashion but boy am I grateful; I just couldn’t imagine a summer without them now. Which other shoes are acceptable to wear on a night out teamed with a Maxi, or with denim shorts at a festival!

Flip flops are too causal and wedges are too high. Gladiator shoes are just cool, thats the best way to sum them up. Not only do they keep your feet ‘cool’ - excuse the pun but their just like really funky and sexy at the same time! Teamed with a pedicure you can’t really go wrong.

Like Victoria Beckham I’m a big believer in high heel shoes, but gladiator sandals almost belong to the same family, they make your legs look great, you can have them in all different styles and they add a bit of glam to any outfit.

So for three whole months my feet will see nothing else, get out there and build your collection they will never go out of style and you will wear them over and over again; trust me.

This summer how about teaming gold gladiators with a khaki maxi dress, bangles and beach hair? Its effortless, its in trend with the safari craze and looks fabulous with a tan. Get the look nailed!
