WOMENS CLOTHING ACCESSORIES JAZZ LEGS!

Tis the season to be jolly - and get creative with your legs. With so many textures and patterns at the forefront of fashion, the variety is infinite and really does ‘make or break’ your outfit.

Take your look to the next level by making your legs the focus of your outfit (or at least a big part) and the more creative the better! Jazz up an outfit that reveals a little bit of leg with black patterned tights and knee high socks.

With this look layering is the key, a mix of the two looks keeps you warm and fashionably perfect! Extend your look to different colours, warm yellows and browns look good together or try mauves and greys. Knee high socks also look great just showing over the top of chunky boots or take them up to the thigh and team with cute little skirts.

Another leg look which has remained ever popular and still going strong is leggings, and its not just plain black either. Some of the most fashion conscious ladies are weather wet look, grey, lace, the list is endless.

To get the look nailed, try our Royal Red Tights - 40 Dernier at £3.50 or try our Metallic Leg Warmers - Gold at £4.99.

STAY WARM AND STYLISH - HATS ARE IN

Brrr, it is cold outside. Perhaps there were times when you could get away with not wearing any hats, but this Winter has certainly shown its wonder - snow and temperature below zero.

This calls for some serious headgearing. Whilst Givenchy is teaming up hats and feathers for ultimate chic, Diane von Furstenberg put cool and pom poms into one sentence.

However hats are not just your simple head warmer - they serve to enhance your outfit as well.

Take an example from Chanel’s A/W 2009-2010 hats - they are the key to creating an ensemble. Extravagant or elegant - the Chanel style is timeless. Remember, it’s designing and making hats Coco started off with.

Feeling feminine but at the same time don’t like hats? That doesn’t mean you can’t look 100% chic. Missoni and Fendi take snoods for a spin throughout their collections - and very successfully. A hood outside that transforms into a scarf inside. Who said fashion can’t be practical?

If you are still not convinced that headwear can be glam then take inspiration from the east and go for a turban, Aquascutum sure did. Think gorgeous Greta Garbo in Mata Hari or the enchanting style of the Middle East. Even the Olsen twins were seen sporting it.

Stay warm and stylish - hats are in and after all, red ears were never considered fashion forward.

DESIGNER UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT: MARCHESA

Two heads are sometimes better than one as the fashion world has seen in the form of Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared, and the combined efforts of Donatella and Santo Versace to name a few. This other dynamic duo have definitely got an eye for fashion and with their eye for fashion, it’s no wonder that Marchesa is where it’s at today.

Founded by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the friends who met at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London frequently stepped out around the London club scene in outfits they designed. Spurred on by international style icon Isabella Blow to take their talents further, the friends embarked on what would be a well known, popular brand.

Named after Marchesa Luisa Casati, their muse and style icon, Chapman and Craig created a line that consisted of elegant eveningwear inspired by vintage and Asian influences. Chapman’s draping and design paired with Keren’s textile ability resulted in the birth of Marchesa in 2004.

Their first line was so popular that they created a diffusion collection called Notte by Marchesa. The same year (2004) Renee Zellweger stepped out for the Bridget Jones premier in a red, silk Marchesa dress, which raised the label’s profile. Other celebrities who are clients include Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba and Anne Hathaway - all style icons in their own right.

Georgina Chapman explained to the Houston Chronicle: “We’re women designing for women. We know how they feel in a beautiful dress. That’s our focus right now.”

So beautiful are their dresses, forget the complicated shoes and accessories. Simplicity is the key word when accessorizing a Marchesa creation.

With a steely determination to maintain high standards, Chapman and Craig became finalists for the 2006 CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards.

In 2007, Chapman glowed as she married movie mogul Harvey Weinstein wearing a dress she designed. Her famous clientele such as Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz were in attendance to the ceremony.

More recently, Eva Longoria was spotted wearing a stunning Marchesa gown at the Met Museum’s Costume Institute gala. Marchesa also sponsored 'A Night of a Thousand Lights', a benefit for St. Jude Children’s hospital, where the stunning Iman, and Diane Kruger attended wearing Marchesa gowns.

With the current exposure Marchesa is receiving, Hollywood’s hottest are keen to get their hands on elegant eveningwear that reflects class and sophistication.

What a wonder five years can do for two British fashionistas with a dream, and with so many of us dreaming of designing sweeping gowns, Georgina and Keren are the perfect example of what a success you can be simply by having an eye for fashion!

MENS FASHION: DEAR SANTA, THE MEN ON MY LIST ARE IMPOSSIBLE!

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, you know the holidays are the time to indulge and inspire your fashion-loving little heads full of the season’s best. My wish list has now been filled to a full page of delectable suedes, leathers and chunky knits. I’ve even added some sparkle and bling to the mix with the jewellery and accessories I’ve decided will warm my spirit as the cold weather wears on.

Of course, I know what I want to make my holiday a bit jollier. But one problem still remains: what to get the men in my life to make them as happy as I will feel when I open my new over-the-knee suede boots on Christmas morning? This is a daunting task that I have unfortunately put off until a week before the big day. Ugh. Where to begin and what to buy?

I have an array of wonderful men in my life, but when I consider what to buy them I feel a rush of panic at the thought of getting it just right. My dad is a simple man with specific tastes of golf and wine. Fashion is not in his vocabulary, let alone something he’d want for Christmas. My brother likes to look good, but he wavers on what he wears as he (and I quote) “doesn’t want to look like he tried too hard”. My best friend is the most difficult, as he is virtually clueless when in comes to styling himself. Bless him, he’s gorgeous but he just doesn’t get it.

So with the pressure on, I found myself looking to others for inspiration and guidance. After much research and chats with other women experiencing shopping anxiety, I have found a few things that are sure to please the pickiest and most particular among the brilliant men in our lives.

Thanks to my mum’s cleverness, I found the perfect gift for my golf-obsessed dad. Combining his love for the sport and my love for bringing great fashion to those that need it, I’ve come across loads of golf attire that will have him looking sharp on the course.  My favourite is the track jacket inspired golf coat.

Next, was my fashion weary big brother. Instead of shocking his system with the new looks of the season, I thought it would be best to start small. He has his favourite brands and fail-safe stores he frequents, so I ventured there to begin my task. I pushed his fashion limits just slightly, all the while maintaining his comfort level with a familiar brand. A baby step toward fashion fulfillment is key with this type of man.

Then there was my inexperienced bestie, my blank canvas for fashion’s top finds. Though I was tempted to gift him my preferred men’s garb, I opted to bring his personality and fashion together in a beautiful harmony instead. It would have been unfair if I outfitted him to look like the Russell Brands of the world, as I would have fancied. He is not the rockstar chic, eyeliner-wearing rebel. He is a football-loving guy that would prefer a pint to a whiskey sour any day. So the gift for him is timeless and conservative. It is stylish without being overly trendy. It is a crisp white smart shirt, cut slim to keep it modern, and it will look fantastic on him. He can wear it as he wishes without the risk of causing a fashion blunder.

Holiday shopping woes put behind me, I am free once again to drool over my wish list in the hopes that Santa has noticed my nice and looked past my naughty this year. Maybe getting the gifts for my fellas just perfect will score me some much-needed nice points.

WINTER 2010 ACCESSORIES TRENDS

Tis’ the season to be jolly and all that jazz, but its also the season for wrapping up, seeing as we just never know what the weather is going to do; better to be safe than sorry, and no better way to be safe than in a stylish way!

There are plenty of Winter hot trends out there at the moment, so don’t think Winter is all doom and gloom because even your Winter garms, hats and woollies could bring a smile to your face.

Why not nab yourself an oversized hat, not only does it keep you toasty but is bang on trend! Follow in the footsteps of Cheryl Cole and go for an oversized bobble hat, or why not try woolly hats with duffles and rock the cute Scandinavian look perfectly!

Mittens and gloves are a must have! Opt for mittens as these are more practical. There is nothing like fumbling for your oyster card with a pair of annoying gloves on. Make sure you include patterns and details in your Winter accessories, studding and embellishing is everywhere and works so well with accessories.

Team your Winter warmers with faux fur or trench coats, and a trusty pair of boots, and you’ve got your Winter accessories nailed!
