CELEBRITY FASHION - MYLEENE KLASS STYLE MAKES US GREEN WITH ENVY

Musician, model, designer, TV and radio presenter, yes I'm talking about the multi talented Myleene Klass. Myleene first came into our lives in 2001 when she sang her way into pop group Hear’say, through TV show ‘Popstars’. Myleene’s real claim to fame though, was when she enterer the Australian jungle in 2006 on reality TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’. Myleene’s charm won the hearts of us all, and she was crowned Queen of the jungle. Since then Myleene’s career has bloomed, presenting for many shows and radio stations including CD:UK, and Classic FM. She’s released a book ‘My bump and me’, music albums, and her very own baby clothing range ‘Baby K’. Myleene has also conquered the modelling industry becoming the face of Pantene and modelling for Marks and Spenser’s, alongside lifetime models Twiggy and Erin O’Connor.

Myleene has achieved so much in the last few years not to mention becoming a fashion icon. Myleene looked amazing at the live 10 Years Younger show last month in Earls Court. She wore a green shift dress, which was tied in at the waist, showing off her great figure, with a thin patient black belt. The striking dress was teamed with black court shoes and oversized cocktail ring, a look that was glamorous but could also be worn as a daytime outfit. This is not the first time Myleene has been pictured in green, other occasions include hosting the US version of ‘I'm A Celebrity’, where she wore a one shouldered number, again pulled in at the waist with a thin belt, this is a certain way to create the illusion of an hour glass figure and draws attention to the thinnest part of a woman’s body. M&S has caught onto this colour craze too, dressing Myleene in a moss green dress, with yellow bead bracelet, for an ad campaign from their Autumn/Winter 09 collection.

The secret behind Myleene’s green phase is her skin tone, greens look great with a tanned complexion. Myleene’s mother is Filipino, which is where she gets her exotic looks from. Don’t let paler skin tones stop you wearing this illuminating colour though, green compliments brunettes, and if this still doesn’t apply to you there are many brilliant fake tanning products available, be sure to apply with gloves on, to avoid your hands giving your secret away!

STILL GOING STRONG - HAREM PANTS FEVER TEAMED WITH KILLER HEELS!

This year fashion reinvented itself, taking us through several eras and brought back trends I’m sure our mothers revelled in during their hay-day.  Inspiration from the golden years has not left designers short of ideas for upcoming trends.

It seems blasts from the past is still very much the way of thinking as Harem Pants are still gracing catwalks. Inspired by the Orient and its increased popularity in the 1980s, these pants are a step away from the figure hugging leggings with the fitted area being from the knees down whilst the top half is loose and baggy.

Summer is still in full swing so why not try a pair of Harem Pants? Vogue’s top tips for sporting this summer must have includes wearing a tight camisole which should be tucked in to define your waist and accentuate your figure as most of the volume is created by the bagginess of the pants. However, if you want to add volume to your upper body, make sure your waist is clinched with a skinny belt.

As for shoes, there’s only one rule. Heels should be sky-high. Why not check out A-SHU’s Purple Triple Strap Suede Effect Sandals £38.00 which gives you the height you need in killer colours. Alternatively there’s always the Black Satin Effect and Bow Detail Peep Toe Heel - Sale was £24.00 now £14.00, which is simplistic in design and colour, but rounds off the look perfectly.

Don’t forget to glam up your look with a range of accessories. Derek Lam opted for a long beaded necklace to complete his look. Recreate it with A-SHU’s Long Brown and Black Beaded Necklace - Sale was £6.49 now £4.99, or if you want to stand our from the crowd, there’s always the Long Grey Pearl and Wooden Bead Effect Necklace - Sale was £6.49 now also £4.99.

FASHION TREND - WOMEN BORROW FROM MEN AGAIN: THE WAISTCOAT

Just like the blazer, making another crossover from men’s formalwear to women’s fashion is the waistcoat; and again this one piece wonder has the ability to make or break an outfit! However, the waistcoat doesn’t merely act as stylish outerwear but a quirky accessory which sets the simplest of looks off and with its sleeveless design is even fit to wear in warmer periods.

With so many varieties on the market, the piece can be teamed with all sorts of clothes to create all sorts of looks and it’s clear that both designer and high street brands are being particularly inventive with the materials and patterns they are using!

Stiffer materials in more masucline fits are a close relative to the original, however fringed and beaded versions are a far cry from the formal look! Both look great with simple tank tops and right now there isn’t a celebrity who isn’t teaming theirs with a white vest and jeans and a chunky bag hanging off their arm.

Fringing is also very in right now, so naturally waistcoats also offer a version. Suede varieties in rich brown and beige shades offer a more relaxed stance on other types of waistcoats and go great with cowboy boots for a more western look!

Juxtapose beaded and more intricate waistcoats with pale delicate dresses to create a sophisticated image and by mixing two opposing styles the outfit makes the dress more casual and the outfit on the whole more quirky and individual.

Start experimenting with yours now!
Take inspiration from celebrity style such as Kate Moss and Rachel Bilson - to get the look nailed team with chunky bags such as our Black Multi-Colour Shopper Tote / Shoulder Bag With Detachable Shoulder Strap, £24.00 or our White and Black Woven Effect Monochrome Handbag / Shoulder Bag, £22.99.
